Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has unveiled an extensive development plan comprising projects worth Dh2.1 trillion, aimed at propelling Dubai’s economic growth and reinforcing its status as a global business and investment hub. Announced at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum, the ambitious portfolio spans real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
A significant portion of this investment, Dh1.1 trillion, is earmarked for the real estate sector, with plans to develop approximately 350,000 residential units by 2030. This initiative is designed to accommodate the emirate’s burgeoning population and rising housing demand, contributing substantially to Dubai’s urban expansion.
The aviation sector is another focal point, with Al Maktoum International Airport set to receive Dh128 billion to boost its capacity to handle up to 260 million passengers annually. Additionally, Dh328 billion is allocated to expand the fleets of Emirates and flydubai, alongside a Dh18.7 billion investment in a new Emirates engineering and maintenance complex.
Infrastructure improvements are also a priority, with Dh100 billion dedicated to road enhancements and the development of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. Moreover, Dh151 billion will expand electricity and water networks, while Dh80 billion is planned for the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system.
The financial services sector will see a boost with Dh100 billion invested in the second phase of the Dubai International Financial Centre, enhancing the emirate’s international business infrastructure.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of proactive investment to meet future demand, highlighting the significance of long-term planning, infrastructure development, and effective leadership. The comprehensive project pipeline is part of Dubai’s strategy to enhance housing, transport connectivity, aviation capacity, and essential services, while also supporting economic diversification and attracting international investment.
