South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met with Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Executive Affairs Authority, on Friday to discuss strengthening cooperation between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. The meeting, held at Cheong Wa Dae, underscored the ongoing partnership efforts initiated during President Lee’s state visit to the UAE last November.
President Lee emphasized the importance of the UAE’s support in prioritizing crude oil supplies to South Korea earlier this year and noted expanding collaboration in sectors such as defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and culture. He called for enhanced communication between the two nations’ officials to transform these cooperative efforts into concrete projects, highlighting the role of mutual trust in strengthening bilateral ties.
Al Mubarak conveyed greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and described South Korea as a close partner. He outlined how the cooperation between the two countries has broadened beyond traditional areas like energy and infrastructure to include investment, space, healthcare, and education.
This meeting comes amid expectations of further high-level discussions, with the potential for a summit in South Korea next month. Both countries are looking to solidify their long-term partnership, with shared interests in various strategic fields.
