The United Arab Emirates has expressed support for a United States statement advocating for an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce in Sudan. UAE Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan emphasized the UAE’s commitment to international efforts aimed at ceasing the conflict and fostering a political process that would lead to the establishment of a civilian government in Sudan.
The UAE highlighted the importance of protecting civilians and addressing the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the region. Sheikh Shakhboot stressed the necessity of ending hostilities and called for a comprehensive political dialogue to achieve a lasting resolution.
In addition to supporting a truce, the UAE has proposed expanding the existing United Nations arms embargo to cover all of Sudan’s territory. The UAE argues that such a measure would help curb the flow of weapons into the region and enhance the protection of civilians.
