UAE Implements AI Education Nationwide, Expanding Government’s Artificial Intelligence Use

The UAE Cabinet has greenlit the introduction of an artificial intelligence curriculum for all public and private schools, aiming to broaden AI integration into education and government services. This initiative will educate students on AI fundamentals, covering aspects like data, algorithms, applications, risks, and ethical considerations. Additionally, the program is set to equip 22,000 teachers and educators with the skills needed to incorporate AI into teaching, assessment, lesson planning, and curriculum development. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, emphasized the necessity for teachers to continue learning to prepare students for a swiftly evolving future.

In tandem with the educational advancements, the Cabinet has sanctioned a new AI advisory system to aid ministers in evaluating policies, legislation, and government strategies. This system features 32 specialized AI assistants that will analyze proposals, examine their potential impacts, study international practices, and offer recommendations aligned with the UAE’s national priorities.

Further advancing its technological framework, the Cabinet has approved regulations for autonomous vehicles. This newly established framework outlines procedures for testing, inspecting, registering, and licensing self-driving vehicles across the UAE. The initiative also supports cleaner transportation solutions and seeks to alleviate traffic congestion.

Significant strides have also been made in the realm of digital transformation, as the government reported the completion of hundreds of millions of digital transactions through its services. Moreover, numerous digital transformation projects have been executed over the past year, showcasing the nation’s commitment to technological advancement.

Additionally, the Cabinet has endorsed a National Ecotourism Policy and assessed the progress of the National Strategy to Combat Desertification 2022–2030. These efforts focus on ecosystem protection, land rehabilitation, and the preservation of native vegetation, underlining the UAE’s dedication to environmental sustainability.
