New Zealand has adjusted its travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates, lowering the threat level from advising against non-essential travel to urging increased caution. This change, reducing the advisory from Level 3 to Level 2, allows New Zealanders to travel to or transit through the UAE while remaining vigilant concerning local security conditions.
Richard Kay, New Zealand’s Ambassador to the UAE, welcomed the revised advisory, noting that it opens up opportunities for travelers to visit or transit through the country once more. The modification comes as the UAE endeavors to revitalize its tourism sector, which had been impacted by regional conflicts. Recent data highlights a positive trend in tourism, with Dubai experiencing a significant increase in international visitors and hotel occupancy rates.
In August, Dubai reported 869,000 international overnight visitors, marking the highest monthly figure since February. Additionally, hotel occupancy in Dubai rose to 66% during August, a substantial increase from the 36% occupancy rate observed in March.
The UAE is actively seeking to encourage international travel by advocating for the removal of travel warnings from other countries, aiming to bolster its tourism and aviation sectors. While several countries have already eased their advisories, some still recommend caution or advise against non-essential travel.
The reduced travel advisory from New Zealand is anticipated to boost travel demand between the two nations, aiding the ongoing recovery of the UAE’s tourism industry.
