Abu Dhabi Encourages Oil Shipments to Restart Post US-Iran Agreement

by admin477351

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has given the green light for customers to resume loading crude oil from its ports at Das and Zirku islands in the Persian Gulf. This development follows an improvement in conditions after a recent agreement between the United States and Iran, which has raised expectations for unobstructed maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

ADNOC has confirmed that crude oil cargoes have been available for loading since April 27. The company has issued a caution to its clients, stating that neglecting to collect scheduled shipments could result in a breach of contractual agreements. To assist buyers who may encounter shipping difficulties, ADNOC has offered support through its own or affiliated tanker fleets.

This decision is part of a broader effort by Gulf oil producers to return to normal export operations following regional disruptions. ADNOC has been actively engaged in the market, having sold tens of millions of barrels through tenders, maintaining its status as one of the most active exporters in the region.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates is working on expanding alternative export routes to lessen its reliance on the Strait of Hormuz. The country is accelerating infrastructure projects, including enhancing pipeline capacity to the port of Fujairah on the Gulf of Oman. This initiative aims to facilitate increased crude exports that can bypass the strategic waterway entirely.
