by admin477351

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has commenced an official visit to Canada with the aim of enhancing bilateral relations and boosting strategic cooperation between the two nations. Arriving in Ottawa, Sheikh Khaled is set to engage in discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to explore opportunities for deepening economic ties, increasing investment, and advancing collaboration in pivotal sectors.

The visit underscores the longstanding partnership between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Canada, as both countries strive for sustainable economic growth and shared prosperity. The Crown Prince is accompanied by a high-level UAE delegation, including Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade; and Mohamed Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment.

This diplomatic engagement follows recent high-level discussions between UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Carney, focused on strengthening economic and technological partnerships. A pivotal development in the relations between the two countries is the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) finalized in July 2026, aiming to reduce trade barriers and enhance market access for goods, services, and investments. This agreement is poised to create new business opportunities and support cooperation in strategic industries such as energy, mining, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and ports.

Canada’s relationship with the UAE is a crucial component of its regional trade strategy, with the UAE being Canada’s largest export market in the Middle East. Both nations are eager to expand commercial opportunities, attract investment, and bolster collaboration in advanced technologies and emerging industries. The UAE has also committed to a $50 billion investment in connection with Carney’s visit to the UAE, further solidifying the economic ties.

Sheikh Khaled’s visit to Canada comes on the heels of his recent official trip to Greece, where he focused on enhancing bilateral relations and economic cooperation, with the UAE announcing plans for an additional €15 billion investment as part of a joint initiative. These international engagements reflect the UAE’s broader efforts to fortify strategic partnerships, expand global investment opportunities, and deepen economic cooperation with key international partners.
